Oct - Acrobatics show

The Shanghai Acrobatic Troupe performs their feats most nights at the Shanghai Centre Theatre, where they are currently based. Juggling, Unicycling, jujitsu, trapeze and balancing acts, as well as comical conjuring, combine to make an enjoyable evening.

Oct - Nov Replica Warriors

Heping Park invites visitors to see its collection of ancient Chinese artifacts. A four- part exhibition presented will feature replicas of Xi’an’s terracotta warriors, bronze carriages and horses, and bronzes of Shang and Zhou dynasty (1600 BC-221 BC). Also on display will be earthenware of Han Dynasty (206 BC - 220) and tri-coloured glazed pottery of the Tang dynasty (618-907). The show will run through the end of November as one event of this year’s Shanghai Tourism Festival.

Oct 20 - Nov 20 - Biennial show

Co-organized by Shanghai Art Museum and Anne Wong Art Foundation in Vancouver, 1998 shanghai Biennial Paintings Show will run from October 20 through November 20 at the Shanghai Art Museum and Liu Haisu Art Museum. Focusing on "Integration and Expansion", the event will discuss the possibility for Chinese ink and wash paintings to expand into foreign countries. In addition to painters from home, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, Chinese painters now living abroad will exhibit their works as well. About 50 domestic painters are included in the event.

Oct 24 - Tchaikovsky notes

To commemorate the 105th anniversary of Tchaikovsky’s death, Shanghai Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra will give three concerts at the Shanghai Concert Hall. The first will be giving on October 24. Programmes include "Slave March", "piano Concerto No. 1 in B Flat Minor" and "Menfred Symphony".

November 1 - Marathon

Toray Cup Shanghai International Marathon is scheduled at 8:00 a.m. November 1, at the Shanghai Stadium. Chinese and foreign professional athletes and marathon amateurs will attend. The routes include a whole course, half course and 4-km jogging for men and women. Shanghai or non-Shanghai residents can register for the event at Shanghai Huangpu Stadium. Applications for foreigners are handled by the Shanghai Asatsu Advertising Co.
