Some useful info for those who use China Telecom here and are into the geekier side of things
 (text messages are case insensitive so don't worry about being exact)

GPRS Settings

There are 2 networks - cmnet for the internet.  cmwap for a selection of sites.
Don't bother with cmwap unless you haven't turned on gprs... (its standard now on china telecom numbers)

How to get your phone password

Go to URL
http://211.136.173.230/webbill/jsp_mzone/sendPWD.jsp

Put in your phone number in the top box
Put in the numbers to the right  in the bottom box
It will sms you your password.  This is needed when you want to sign up for more services at Shanghai Telecom or via the SMS packages above.

You can get  balance enquiries, telephone enquiries, password enquiries, billing information either automatically or via SMS (see up above for the secret settings for all that!)
